The Great Debate: To Make-Up or Not to Make-Up, by Guest Blogger Coffee Beans

Hullo, beautiful people of Modern Pinup.
I'm Coffee, or just Fee if you're feeling lovey. I'm a blogger from WordPress, on a site called The Land of Man-Eating Pixies, on which I talk about Writing, Life, Insanity, and the Pursuit of Awesome.
I've been asked to do a guest post on this blog, and so I've decided to branch out and talk about something that I don't normally talk about: make up.
See, I'm not really a make-up-y person. I feel like I'm most comfortable without all of the unnecessary weight on my face. My glasses are enough, thank you(:
But I do know that some people won't even leave the house without make-up on, and so I've come up with some pros and cons of make-up usage, although I'm afraid I'm a bit bias. (:
Pros of Make-Up Usage:
Make up helps thousands of people around the world feel prettier, although if this is a pro or a con, I can't tell. There's certainly nothing wrong with it- it's great. It covers up blemishes and if you know how to do it correctly, it can change any minor "imperfections" without paying major bucks for a surgery, which is nice. It can seemingly change the width of your nose, or make your eyes pop. What the heck, it even boosts the economy a little bit-- we all spend a little bit of money on some amount of make up, right? For me, it's just lip gloss, but for others, there's major money in the business.
Cons of Make-Up Usage:
People can become a bit too dependent on their make-up usage. A little bit goes a long way, and some seem to take it far too overboard for everyday usage. If you don't know how to do it right, it can make some look cheap and fake (if you follow this blog, however, and do it right, it's a completely different story). I don't personally see the appeal in make-up, but some work hard to make themselves seem "perfect", and I can respect that.

I feel, however, that if one decides to use make-up, and becomes even realitively good at it, it can inhance your entire appearance, making you seem even more attractive than usual-- as long as you remain comfortable in your own skin. That's all that counts, right?
Much love,
Fee(:

How To Prevent Puffy Eyes

What is the most common beauty problem?
Puffy Eyes!

Here are some helpful ideas and tips to help.

  • When applying eye cream gently tap your skin with your ring finger to encourage the excess fluid to drain away.
  • Store creams in the refrigerator, the coldness will help reduce puffiness.
  • Placing thin strips of potato underneath your eyes. The starch in the potato seems to tighten your skin.Make yourself some Chamomile Tea, then use the teabags (after they cool) and apply them directly to the eyes. Teas contain anti-irritants that soothe redness and inflammation.
  • Place a slice of cucumber over each eye then for about 15 minutes lie back and relax. The cucumber gently tones and soothes the skin around the eye
  • Fill a bowl with iced water or ice-cold milk. Soak two cotton pads and place them on the eyes when they become warm repeat the process. This should be done for about 15 minutes.
  • Be careful with this trick...some people have allergic reactions. Hemorrhoid cream can help shrink blood vessels around the eyes and temporarily decrease swelling and redness.
  • Grab an ice tray and fill with water or brewed tea. Add a few drops of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (hydrates the skin), Liquid Vitamin K (decreases dark circles), cucumber (soothes), and Lemon (lightens). Freeze then gently rub on the undereye area. Be careful not to get into the eyes.
What are some of your home remedies?

Oh The Memories....

Last night I was a chaperon for the 8th grade promotion dance....It's crazy after so many years you see some of the same teacher's that were there when I was there so many years ago....It seems like only yesterday I was that young. Next year is my daughters last year in middle school, and my son's first year...A 10 year old and 13 year old, where has the time gone? I'll never tell you my age, but if you put two and two together, you might get close. It was quite interesting and entertaining. Kids dancing, laughing, huddled in groups. Things were different, but still the same.

They lacked a photographer though, that was always the funnest for us we would get all our friends together to take group pictures.

Overall it was a blast. I enjoyed being able spend time with my daughter, and not be too "mom'ish" and talk to her too much. LOL...

My Daily Face Cleansing Ritual!!

I just wanted to share with you what I use on my face daily to keep my skin youthful. Now I have tried a numerous amount of different cleansers, moisturizers, toners, ect. Many gave broke my face out, or have left it completely dry and uneven. As I age I find it very important to take care of my skin. I do not, let me repeat, DO NOT want fine lines and wrinkles, I’ll save that for when I am 60+ thanks….
I start off first by using the Mary Kay Timewise Cleanser. This leaves my skin feeling clean, fresh and radiant with enhanced hydration. As it cleanses, exfoliates and freshens in one step, it begins the process to reveal younger looking skin. Plus, with each use, your skin feels totally refreshed.

After I use the cleaner, I use the Timewise Moisturizer…It’s formulated with antioxidants that help guard against free radicals which cause the skin to age. The patented complex helps accelerate skin’s renewal process – hydrates, smooths, firms, and softens.

Then depending on if it is my AM ritual or PM ritual. I use either the Timewise Day Solution or the Timewise Night Solution. The Timewise Day Solution is my veil of defense! With an SPF of 25, this innovative product helps prevent sun damage such as lines and discoloration before they occur by blocking damaging UVA/UVB rays. A calming peptide helps relax expression lines. The Timewise Night Solution has a unique delivery system of encapsulated vitamins and antiozidants combined with collagen enhancing peptides that help fade away deep lines and wrinkles. Nutribeads are microcapsules that are vitamin packed. So rest assure that your skin is being revitalized while you sleep!

That’s about it for my daily face cleansing ritual….If you are interested in it for yourself you can find all these products at www.marykay.com/srapozo
Check back later for more helpful tips!!
